SARS, Telkom SA, Basic Education and Social Development lead finalists in the running for Grand Prix Awards as part of the 3rd Annual Public Sector Excellence campaign; Drs Brigalia Bam and Sam Motsuenyane to receive Public Sector Excellence Lifetime Achievement Awards

Johannesburg, South Africa: SARS has for a third year been nominated for a Public Service Excellence™ (PSX) Grand Prix Award. Other finalists for Grand Prix awards in South Africa’s premier forum for independent public recognition of top public sector performance are: Telkom SA and SABC, as well as the Departments of Basic Education, Social Development and Arts & Culture. The awards will be held on Tuesday, 31 January 2012 at the Sandton Sun. Advocate Thuli Madonsela, Public Protector of South Africa will give a keynote address.
The Advisory Council announced that it will honour two outstanding South Africans with its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Awards for Distinguished Public Service: former IEC Chairperson, Dr Brigalia Bam and former Nafcoc President, Dr Sam Motsuenyane. The late Albertina Sisulu received the inaugural PSX Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010.
